Up/Down Markets Are Now Fully Real-Time

Up/Down Markets Are Now Fully Real-Time

This is one of our biggest releases yet. We have rebuilt the Up/Down market experience end to end, from price accuracy and real-time graphs to interval navigation and trading context. If you trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana Up/Down markets on PolySimulator, the experience is now much tighter, cleaner, and more reliable.

Here is what changed and why.

The Problem: Price Discrepancies and Fragile Live Context

Up/Down markets are one of the most timing-sensitive parts of the product. Every few minutes, a new interval opens with a "Price to Beat" (PTB), and small accuracy problems can completely change how a trader reads the setup.

Before this release, PTB values could drift too far from what traders were seeing on Polymarket. The broader causes were straightforward:

  1. Too much trust in a narrow slice of market data during live intervals
  2. Edge cases around interval changes where the wrong live context could bleed into the current market
  3. Sticky early values that were sometimes too hard to replace once better data arrived
  4. Noisy chart inputs that occasionally made the price graph feel less trustworthy than it should

The Fix: A More Robust PTB Derivation Layer

We now derive the Price to Beat from multiple independent references instead of leaning too hard on any one signal.

In practice, that means we cross-check:

  • Polymarket-visible market metadata
  • Settlement-grade reference pricing
  • Live interval context from the active market

We also added stronger consistency rules so the system is much better at rejecting stale or low-confidence values during fast interval transitions.

Result: PTB on PolySimulator now tracks much more closely to what serious traders expect to see on Polymarket.

Cleaner Real-Time Crypto Charts

The crypto price chart on Up/Down markets had a persistent problem: fast-moving live markets exposed every weakness in the pipeline. If the chart blended inconsistent inputs or redrew too aggressively, traders could feel it immediately.

What changed

  • Oracle-led pricing. Up/Down charts now anchor much more strongly to settlement-grade crypto pricing, with secondary feeds used primarily for resilience rather than leadership.

  • Cleaner historical series. We separated the chart history used for interval views so the graph is based on a more consistent stream instead of a mixed bag of references.

  • Higher-fidelity downsampling. When large time windows need to be compressed into a small chart, we now preserve the shape of the move much better instead of flattening important swings.

  • Better live rendering. The chart handles fast updates more smoothly, so it feels stable instead of twitchy.

Interval Timeline Navigation

The market detail page now includes a purpose-built interval timeline for Up/Down trading.

For a BTC 5-minute market, you can see the surrounding intervals in one place: past intervals show their outcomes, the current interval is clearly marked as live, and future intervals are easy to jump into.

Past intervals collapse cleanly when there are too many to show at once, and time labels are displayed in Eastern Time to match how most Up/Down traders already think about the session.

This replaces the more generic related-market navigation with something designed specifically for repeated interval trading.

Chart Stabilization

We also fixed several visual problems that made live charts feel less polished than they should.

Y-Axis Wobble

The live crypto chart no longer constantly "breathes" as new prices arrive. The viewing range now behaves much more calmly, which makes short-term moves easier to read.

Post-Resolution Spikes

Ended intervals no longer throw distracting resolution artifacts into the visible chart window.

Animation Conflicts

Fast live ticks used to fight with the chart animation layer. That conflict has been removed, so the graph now updates more cleanly during active intervals.

Redesigned Market Detail for Up/Down

The market detail page for Up/Down markets now includes:

  • A clearer PTB dashboard showing the threshold, countdown, and current crypto price together
  • A larger countdown timer so interval urgency is obvious at a glance
  • A source badge giving users better transparency about the PTB signal they are seeing
  • A direct path to the active interval when viewing an ended market
  • A cleaner visual system across the Up/Down experience

The goal here was simple: make interval trading feel more deliberate and less improvised.

Smarter Real-Time Connections

Under the hood, we tightened how real-time market connections are managed.

Instead of treating all markets equally all the time, the platform now focuses much more aggressively on the markets that are actually active or immediately relevant. We also batch and smooth real-time fan-out more carefully so the system stays responsive during heavy market activity.

That work matters because good real-time UX is not just about raw speed. It is about staying accurate and stable when the market gets noisy.

Profile Analytics for Bots and Power Users

For bot developers and advanced users, we also added a new profile analysis layer.

The new profile tools make it much easier to inspect:

  • Balance and P&L
  • Open positions and exposure
  • Trade history and equity curve
  • Risk concentration and trading behavior

There is also MCP support so these analytics can be consumed directly inside agent workflows and IDE tooling.

Performance Wins Across the Platform

Several targeted performance improvements shipped alongside the Up/Down work:

  1. Leaned-out real-time price streaming so the live experience is less chatty and more efficient
  2. Faster market detail delivery through better cache behavior on hot pages
  3. Faster public profiles by removing unnecessary serial fetch behavior
  4. More reliable sports browsing by fixing filter-specific cache reuse
  5. Cleaner anonymous sessions by skipping unnecessary auth-bound fetches for logged-out users

These are not flashy changes, but they remove friction across the whole product.

What Is Next

This release brings the Up/Down market experience much closer to the standard we want for production.

Next up, we are continuing to push on:

  • Faster portfolio and account views
  • Lower-latency real-time delivery
  • More robust trader analytics
  • Continued polish on the Up/Down trading flow

If you are building bots or integrations, check out our public API docs and profile analytics documentation.

Happy trading.
